Filr MySQL Config File Secret Passphrase (blowfish_secret)

Hello,

I see this: The configuration file now needs a secret passphrase (blowfish_secret)at the bottom of the phpMyAdmin page when log in as root. I have found this documentation online https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PhpMyAdmin but the file they refer to config.inc.php does not exist in /opt/novel/srv/www/htdocs/phpMyAdmin. There is only a file called config.sample.inc.php.

There is another location on the MySQL server that has the config.inc.php file /opt/novel/srv/www/htdocs/phpMyAdmin/setup/frames but this version of the file seems quite different.

So the question is: should I be seeing this error? And, if no, how do I get rid of it?

Thank you for any help or insight you can give.

Hey David,

I haven't noticed that particular error & don't have access to a system directly (on the 9443 port) to check. In first instance, I'd recommend not to mess with this setting just yet.

Which deployment is this btw? The large variant?
Also, was this a fresh install of the 1.0 version or have you maybe upgraded from a beta?

Cheers,
Willem

I tried this out. I guess I could have renamed the config.sample.inc.php from /opt/novel/srv/www/htdocs/phpMyAdmin to config.inc.php in the same directory, but I don't know what all those other fields do. So I just created a new file in /opt/novel/srv/www/htdocs/phpMyAdmin called config.inc.php and put the lines:

<?php
$cfg['blowfish_secret'] = 'test test test test';
?>

And it seemed to work. Sounds like it just improves the security on cookies for the php admin.

Thanks for this feedback... I've passed it on to my Novell contacts. I'll update if anything specific comes back on this.
