Re: Filr sending emails

O..and the digest story has been set..even changed it to .25 hours ... so tell me does this mean if i share a document with a user internal external, they will only recive the link/notification in digest format and not immediate?...

Ok so instead of using the built-in Postfix you're using an external
e-mail server? Are you authenticating to that e-mail server? If not,
have you defined a relay exception for the IP address of the Filr
appliance?

Re: Filr sending emails

HI,

Yes if i use cli on the filr (telnet) as i said mail is working 100%, i can see the connection on my relay and mail is delivered internal even external to my gmail account..so as far a the os and my mail relay is concerned all is well it seems to me/ ... BUT "sending" mail from filer (share an item) i dont even see filr trying to make a connection to the smtp server ?.... and as said on the config webgui.."testing" it is 100% happy.... it is as if the filr app is not even trying to send the mail ..... even the digest was not send..

I guess this is where I'm a little confused. You say mail is delivered
internally and externally (to Gmail). What sort of mail is being
delivered if share notifications aren't going out? I'm just trying to
understand what exactly *is* working first.

Re: Filr sending emails

HI,

When i ssh to the filr box, login as root, telnet to my mail (x.x.x.x 25) relay, and send message from there internal and external mails are delivered, meaning that as far as the OS is "concerned" and the mail relay all is well, from this address (filr adress) mail is accepted and mailed via the mail relay (all rules in place) .. so to me it seems, that "filr" itself does not try to send the mail to the relay i have setup?. does this make more sence? maybne i missed something on the mail setup ...but from the webgui i only see the 2 places relating to emails setup .. in filr appliance 9443interface and then as admin on the 8443 interface..

Ok that makes sense. So now going back to the appliance configuration,
outbound e-mail, I take it you've unchecked "use local Postfix mail
server" and have specified a host? That's what I'm reading from your
original post. If that's the case, is the host specified by DNS name
or IP address? If DNS, what happens if you try IP? Also, have you
checked "authentication required"?
