Filr update 3.4 og client version 3.4.2 (929) - URGENT!!

We have recently updated our Filr appliances to version 3.4 and pushed Windows client version 3.4.2 to clients (Windows 10). Many users now experience that some folders are empty and just containing a “$Data”-file at 0kb. On the backend storage and web the folders/files looks okay. If they open files from “recently used files” in MS Word from these folders, there is no problem opening those files. If they create a new file in one of the affected folders, the file disappears! Filr console, backend storage and web is okay. Others who experiencing this behavior? This does not feel reliable at all.

Re: Filr update 3.4 og client version 3.4.2 (929) - URGENT!!

We still got the problem. To me it looks like the problem relates to a security-feature in Windows and data streams. If you transfer files from another computer or download from web, we can se a message stating that this file came from another computer and might be blocked (under general-tab, file properties). If we copy those files with this statement set into Filr, the target folder gets corrupted. If we unblock the file first and then copy the file into Filr, no problem. This is a new bug in 3.4.2 client. This is not a problem in 3.4 client.

Hi,

Could you please provide desktop log files and also data base file for analysis?
Path: "%localappdata%/Novell/Filr".
It will help us in debugging the issue.

Re: Filr update 3.4 og client version 3.4.2 (929) - URGENT!!

In addition to previous thread, please note that Nnw Filr 3.4.2 desktop client (929) is dependent on 6.4.2 .NET framework. Running exe file will automatically install all dependent packages. Hence it is advised to verify whether client has installed latest .NET framework or manually install before upgrading to 3.4.2 desktop client.

Could you please perform upgrade scenario in separate windows machine manually.
1) Have a Win 10/7 windows machine.
2) Upgrade 3.4.2 client manually.
3) Verify .Net framework version.
4) Verify whether files/folder are getting listed and are accessible.
This helps in understanding what is happening during manual upgrade. Since you have mentioned it’s a silent msi update, we are suspecting .NET framework update is getting skipped.

Note:
How to check the current .Net framework version? Please follow below links.
https://help.bittitan.com/hc/en-us/a...ave-installed-
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dot...-are-installed

Collect following information which will help us in debugging the issue.
1) The current .NET framework version.
2) Event viewer log.
3) Desktop log files and also data base file for analysis - Path: "%localappdata%/Novell/Filr".

Re: Filr update 3.4 og client version 3.4.2 (929) - URGENT!!

Hi!
Same here.
Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit, .NET 4.7, Filr 3.4.0.828 (working ok), trying upgrade to 3.4.2.929 silently using msi, setup log – success. After restart in log appear first ,NET Runtime Error 1026 (Application: FilrService.exe - Framework Version: v4.0.30319 - Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.) then Application Error 1000 (Faulting application name: FilrService.exe, version: 3.4.1.0, time stamp: 0x5bc85ebc - Faulting module name: FilrService.exe, version: 3.4.1.0, time stamp: 0x5bc85ebc - Exception code: 0xc0000005). On user screen appear „Filr Service has stopped working“. No knowledge about actual Filr state – meaning what was accessible if ever. Uninstalled 3.4.2 and installed 3.4.0 – everything in order again.

Re: Filr update 3.4 og client version 3.4.2 (929) - URGENT!!

Looking at .NET error 1026, it seems the .NET installation is not proper. Please re install the .NET 4.7. Also check if there is any windows update is pending for reboot.

Re: Filr update 3.4 og client version 3.4.2 (929) - URGENT!!

Have the same issue with dotnet-error after the windows update to dotnet 4.7.2 from 4.7 and Filr-Client 3.4.2. A popup-message appears, that the filrservice.exe crashed. I can close it, but seconds later it will open again.
But the synchronisation works fine. With local admin-rights it works without this issue.

Didn´t know about this thread, had the problem yesterday with one client. First thing that catched my eye was, looking at the filr subfolder having the issue with Microsoft Explorer I only saw two $Data files. looking at the same Folder, using Total Commander I saw all subfolder and containing files.

After I tried few things, I renamed the Folder on the file server, synced to the client and the $Data vanished and I saw the renamed folder with all subfolders. Renamed the folder on the file server back, synced and everything was fine.

Hope this info helps.

Hello,

MTS sent a mail yesterday, release 3.4.3 will contain a fixed client.

"Issue is investigated and fix is scheduled in upcoming Filr Desktop

It is expected to be released within a few weeks."
