Migrating users from different DB

Hi everybody!

I have Filr 1.2 single server with a MySQL DB, and I have a new Filr 3.4 multiple server with a MS-SQL DB.

I want to migrate al local users from Filr 1.2 to 3.4, preserving their passwords. There is a way to do it?

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Migrating users from different DB

The passwords, when they are LDAP imported are not stored but cached in the DB, Filr actually reads the password from the backend directory.

If you want to preserve all Filr settings, shares, comments, external users, ... the only way would be to upgrade to Filr 2.0, path, then upgrade to 3.0 and patch to 3.4

If you do not have Filr 2.0 in your MCC, you can send an email to entitlements@microfocus.com

Then after that you can use the migrate from MySQL to MSSQL using the documentation.

https://www.novell.com/documentation/filr-3/filr-bp-maint/data/migrate-sql-mssql.html

When on 3.4 the Post Migration script can be obtained here: http://download..novell.com/Download?buildid=BoCcMtxhxvs~

Kind Regards,

Bart.

Hi Bart! Thank you for the reply!
I don't need LDAP users. Only externals and those who have were created with Filr administration console.

There is a way to do it?

Thanks in advance!!

Bye!!

Re: Migrating users from different DB

I would advise against it, as the User ID values are unique per Filr instance... migrating them over has a great potential to create a mess.

To preserve the External and Internal users It's recommended to perform an Upgrade.

Kind Regards,

Bart.
