New Install v3

I'm attempting to set up a new install using separate appliances for the web front end, a search engine and a Mysql database server. The servers are up and I'm walking through the wizard on the web front end to connect to the database server. I've used this to configure the filr database, but when I finish the wizard and connect to it I get an error "creating the database failed". I'm not sure where to look for troubleshooting purposes so any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks

Re: New Install v3

During the configuration of the database server, there is a portion of the documentation that isn't making sense. When creating the filr user in PHPMyAdmin it says to use 'Use Host Table' in the host field, but then says to add the IP addresses of each appliance to the host field. However using 'Use Host Table' doesn't allow for adding anything in the field, as the help indicates. As soon as I type in the IP's and change fields, the drop down changes from 'Use Host Table' to 'Use Text Field'. Does anyone know how to reconcile that? Doubt this is part of my original problem since I can create the user and database by using the IP's or allowing all connections, but I thought I would throw it out there.

Re: New Install v3

For the initial setup, see if you can keep Host field set to Any Host (or %) for the username "filr" that you have manually added.
If you have created the database named "filr", have you granted all privileges to "filr" user?
Then try the wizard again from Filr appliance install wizard and see if it will create the tables in the database "filr" for you.

Also make sure you can ping the db server from the filr server.

During the user creation process, I'm checking the box 'Create database with same name and grant all privileges'. Confirmed that pings work between all three servers. I'm in the process of rebuilding from scratch, will update a little later today.

Thanks for chiming in.
