Password related question - Sync password / Single sign on

Hi,

I would like to know if there is a way or a setting that we can enable o the password does not need to be re-entered on the Novell Filr Desktop client when the user change his Novell eDir password.

Is there a way like in the Novell Zenworks, that the user login on the computer and the password is passed to Filr ?

Thank you 🙂

Disclaimer: I work with TDP, the creator of KeyShield SSO, and thus am biased.

The basic idea is you need something trusted by Filr to tell it which user
is logged into the system. One option for this is a product like
KeyShield SSO: http://www.keyshieldsso.com/integrations/

Using something like this can integrate with a lot of other products too,
whether via RADIUS, other Novell products, or anything else on that page.
The result is that SSO behaves a lot more as you would expect which is
nice to avoid entering passwords over and over and over throughout the day.

So if i understand correctly, we have to use a third party software to do this ?

Nothing built-in Novell/Microfocus for their product to talk to each other ?

I do not know that it cannot be done with the native product, but rather I
just know that customers do similar thing with other products. Somebody
else may come along and clarify here, though.

So are you asking about having to re-enter the password into the Filr Desktop client, no matter what? If so, I'd think that would be an SSO feature.

But you specifically mentioned when a user changes their password. So I can only assume that you have enabled the *caching/saving/remembering* of the password in the Filr Desktop client? In which case, I'd expect it to behave that way (it tries to stuff in what was saved, and then it fails and prompts you to enter the password).

I agree it would be nice if the Filr Desktop client could be SSO-enabled via Kerberos or whatever, but not sure if that's what you're asking for.

Re: Password related question - Sync password / Single sign

Yeah sort of. Just asking that since Filr is a Novell(Microfocus) product that it would react like Zenworks...

Credentials from the login would be passed to the Zenworks agent and Filr agent as well...

Gotcha. Yes, I will say that now that I think about it...
It is a little surprising.
