disable yellow "download filr client" bar for external users

I don't want External users to be bugged or even know about the Filr clients; the yellow bar that pops up when they first login makes them think they should get the client which they really don't need (yes, they could use it, but there's no reason to)

If I uncheck the "Be Deployed" checkbox in Desktop Applications, it turns off the yellow bar but now no one can get the client at all. Even existing internal users that already have the client installed can't get updates.

Re: disable yellow "download filr client" bar for external u

Hi Dave,

the easiest way is simply to hide the yellow bar with CSS.

You could try the following CSS snippet by adding it to your ss_call_out_css_init.jsp and restart the filr service:

<style>
.vibe-desktopAppCtrl-control {
display:none;
}
</style>

Hope that helps,
Christian

Thanks, but this one did not work (the other one you posted to eliminate the beta ui button worked great though!)

I still get the yellow bar "Click the username menu to download the Filr Desktop Application"

Re: disable yellow "download filr client" bar for external u

ok, I figured out that the code should be:
<style>
div.vibe-desktopAppCtrl-control {
display:none;
}
</style>

however it's an imperfect solution because it still leaves the blank space where the yellow bar would be, and then there's no way to get rid of it since you can't click the close button or "don't show again".

What I'd really like is a Filr admin console option to eliminate the yellow bar (and having different options for internal vs. external users would be nice too). It should be left up to the administrator how and when to instruct users to download any client software.

Added my vote. I like your suggestion, but just as an FYI, what I do
currently is uncheck the "be deployed" box and then push the client
out to those that should get it via ZENworks. Your option would be
better but this is a workaround.
