AWB Automatic migration failed

Jump to solution

I am using Mac OSX 10.14.5 and I recently started getting an error while opening an FPR file in Audit Workbench (AWB). It starts to load, and then an error appears that says:

Automated migration failed.

(paragraph ommitted)

Unrecognized option: --add-modules

Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.

Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

I cannot figure out what changed and why I am suddenly getting this error.

After much Googling, I found a similar issue on Stack Overflow regarding Eclipse. This fixed the issue:

  1. Open this file in a text editor:
    /Applications/Fortify/Fortify_SCA_and_Apps_19.1.1/Auditworkbench.app/Contents/MacOS/eclipse.ini
  2. Remove the line that says:
    --add-modules=ALL-SYSTEM
