How to clear the memory issue in Webinspect database

Hi,

We are facing memory issue while running webinspect scan.

Error Message:

Scan database has reached maximum allowed limit (4gb). Operation will be cancelled.

Please let us know how to resolve the database memory issue. Also, is there anyway where we can increase the memory size?

It seems that you are using a very old version of SQL Express with your WebInspect.  Prior to SQL Express 2008 (R2?), there was a natural storage limit of 4GB.  After SQL Express 2008 (R2?), that limit was raised by Microsoft to 10GB.  (There was at least one release that started with the 4GB limit but then changed to the 10GB limit with a SP, and I think it was 2008 if not 2005.)

There is no way to increase the storage capacity of your current SQL Express besides installing a newer release of SQL Express or switching to a Standard or Enterprise Edition of MS SQL Server.  It may be conceivable for you to uninstall and reinstall a newer SQL Express and open that old WebInspect scan to then Resume the scan.  SQL Express uses MDB files on the hard drive as the "database", and I do not think they have had schema changes between the releases that might block those from being opened by different releases, outside of the file size limitation.

At the very least, upgrading your SQL Express will prevent you from continuing to have this issue.  Check the System Requirements for your own current version of WebInspect, but WebInspect 17.10 (HPE_Sys_Reqs_17.10.pdf) now supports SQL Express 2014 SP1, or 2012 with SP1 or SP2, or 2016, all of which have a 10GB storage limit per WebInspect scan.  There are also "full size" MSSQL options such as Standard or Enterprise Edition, but you may want to stay on SQL Express for now.

System Requirements docs may be found on this same site, here:
