Merging of SSC and WIE

Jump to solution

Hi,

I heard that there are plans to merge WIE and SSC and was wondering whether there was a timeline as to when this may be available to customers.

I have been considering implementing WIE, as already have both SSC and multiple WebInspect Licenses, however would prefer not to go to the trouble of acquiring hardware and implementing WIE, if there is a planned update of SSC to incorporate all WIE functionality within the next 6-12 months.

Also with regards to this merger will all existing SSC customers automatically get all the functionality of WIE?

Many thanks,

Dan

Hello Dan,

You have heard correctly, the WebInspect Enterprise and Software Security Center teams are hard at work designing how to merge both products into one platform to make the installation and architecture easier for our customers to deploy, maintain and use.  We estimate the process will take quite a long time, however. Our plan is to slowly add functionality overlap into SSC with each release until most or all of the functional role WIE plays today in the architecture is taken over by the SSC platform.

We do not expect the WIE server to disappear from our architecture for quite some time and there is a lot of functionality that needs to be merged into SSC. If you are looking to centralise your dynamic scanning for control or reporting purposes in the near future then I would recommend that you not wait.

Today and in the future and funtionality that is covered by the WIE portal will still be sold as a seperate module/ability, standard SSC customers will not be upgraded to this functionality.
