Visual Studio 2015 - Command Line Fix

Fortify v4.30 introduced support for Visual Studio 2015. However command line support for running SCA scans with devenv.exe was unfortunately lacking. I'm pleased to announce we now have a fix for this.

Attached is a registry file that will add the required entries for the /SCAScan Option for VS 2015. Once the registry file is run you will then need to run the following command from a Visual Studio Command Prompt with admin rights:

>devenv /setup

Then, when you perform a command line scan with Visual Studio, you will now need to add the /SCAScan option to devenv.

Ex before: >sourceanalyzer -b <buildid> devenv mysolution.sln /rebuild debug

Ex now: >sourceanalyzer -b <buildid> devenv mysolution.sln /SCAScan /rebuild debug

This will be fixed out of the box in the next SCA patch release - date to be confirmed.

Re: Visual Studio 2015 - Command Line Fix

This new option only applies when targeting VS 2015, correct? In other words, I do have to use that option if I'm running VS 2010, 2012 or 2012?

Re: Visual Studio 2015 - Command Line Fix

Hi Steve, sorry for the slow response - just back to the office today. That's correct, this only applies to VS 2015 command line support with v4.30. Other versions of VS are not affected and it's actually resolved in v4.31 which is available now - just let me know if you need help locating the 4.31 installers.

Re: Visual Studio 2015 - Command Line Fix

Simon,

Where are the 4.31 installers located?  I don't see them under the regular "My Software Updates" portal.

Thanks!

Re: Visual Studio 2015 - Command Line Fix

Hi MIke, they seemed to get a little tucked away on the HP SSO. To find them, open up https://softwaresupport.hp.com, from the page where you select or enter your SAID you should see a link to “Software Patches” on the left hand side. Click this and then search for “Fortify Patch 4.30 P1”. The results should include SCA_00004, SSC_00004 and RUNTIME_00002.

The direct links to each are:
