WIE Scan Tuning

Does anyone have any information on Tuning WebInspect scans that take a really long time to run.  I'd be curious to hear what steps individuals take.  I know that WIE will be offering incremental scans in the future which will help but until then I have some scans that will run for days and I'd like to get that time frame down.

Thanks,

Mike

Re: WIE Scan Tuning

I started a central document to house scan configuration ideas.  I hope this helps you identify the Why in your current situation.  Most configuration changes must wait until a specific challenge is encountered.

WebInspect desktop 16.20 currently offers Incremental Scanning via its CLI option.  This may help hold you over until WIE gets that feature, or you may find that using Workflow-driven scans coupled with periodic "complete" scans works better for your organization's needs.

I believe it got "migrated" when the forums changed.  You are likely seeking this:  "WebInspect Scan Configuration Tricks and Best Practices" at https://community.microfocus.com/t5/Fortify-User-Discussions/WebInspect-Scan-Configuration-Tricks-and-Best-Practices/m-p/1587049

This is an outstanding document.  Some of these things we've been trying to do so I'm glad to see that you pointed them out.  I certainly feel like incremental scanning will improve our scanning capabilities as well.
