WebInspect Enterprise require IIS

The official WebInspect Enterprise documentation specifies that IIS must be installed. Why do you need IIS if no web application is going to run in the browser since it is an executable?

WebInspect Enterprise is a web application running within IIS and the web console is accessed via a browser:

There are some components of WebInspect Enterprise (WIE) that are executables:

  • Enterprise Console
  • Desktop Application
  • Sensor(s)
  • etc.
