"Scan Initialization Failed" Error

"Scan Initialization Failed" Error

When I start to run a basic scan, I get "Scan Initialization Failed" error message. I have checked logs from Log Viewer. Error detail is here:

"SPI.WebInspect.ScanInteractView in backgroundWorker_RunWorkerCompleted, this.scanInteractViewException != null

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): 'sysdatetime' is not a recognized built-in function name."

Could someone help me resolve this issue please?

I haven't come across that particular error message before, but I'd suggest you check that the SQL Express service is indeed running on the machine and that the installed version of SQL Express is one that is supported by your version of WebInspect (documentation is available here).

If everything looks good there, it's often the case that the SQL Express cache becomes corrupted for some reason or another. and deleting that cache so that SQL Express rebuilds it will often resolve the issue.  To do so - open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data and delete the "SQLEXPRESS" directory.
