reload collector

hi,

can someone explain to me where to install the collector and if it's even necessary in a non cluster environment? right now i have a reload server and a groupwise server. if i install the collector on the gw server i won't need any nfs shares for restore area. but then the gw server has all the work to do. the other way around would need the nfs shares.

thanks

Let me start by stating I run Reload (whoops...GW Disaster Recovery),
but I'm not an expert. In a single GW/single Reload situation, you
would not need to install a collector. As you state, without it you
would need to have a mount point on the GW server for Reload to use.
If you choose to run the collector on the GW server, you will need to
make sure you have sufficient space on the GW server for staging.
There is some info in the System Requirements section in the doc:
https://www.microfocus.com/documentation/groupwise/groupwise-disaster-recovery511/groupwise-disaster-recovery.pdf

Just as an FYI, I am running the following: I have two GroupWise
servers (part of the same system but one is located at a remote
office). So I have two Reload servers (one local to each GW server).
This allows me to locally backup each GW server. I use a mount point
for this and it works fine for me. I then use the collector model to
duplicate the backups - so each Reload server actually holds a backup
of the local server and the remote server.

Hope that helps.

Re: reload collector

hi ken,

thanks for the info. i‘m going with nfs share now, as the collector will consume too much space.
