Property "EnclosingFolders" not working for shared folders sinceGW 7.0.3

Hi all!

We´re have to find out the name of a shared folder in the owner´s mailbox.

So we select the first message in the folder and read the property
EnclosingFolders. The following code sample works until GW 7.0.2, but
since 7.0.3 the EnclosingFolders property is empty.

I think there is a problem in 7.0.3. Any ideas?

Thank you,
Thomas

-- cut --
Private Sub Main()

Dim objGroupWise As Object
Dim objAccount As Account
Dim objFolder As Folder
Dim objMessage As Message

On Error Resume Next

Set objGroupWise = CreateObject("NovellGroupWareSession")
Set objAccount = objGroupWise.Login

For Each objFolder In objAccount.AllFolders
If objFolder.ObjType = egwPersonalFolder And objFolder.Shared =
egwSharedIncoming Then
If objFolder.Messages.Count > 0 Then
Set objMessage = objFolder.Messages.Item(1)
If objMessage.EnclosingFolders.Count > 0 Then
MsgBox objMessage.EnclosingFolders.Item(1).Name
Exit For
End If
End If
End If
Next

End Sub
-- cut --

PS: We´ve also opened a Service Request, but you can´t buy developer
support from Novell any more, they redirected us to the forum!

Not shure, and haven't tested in any way, just wrote something straight from the head......, but how about this :

For Each objFolder In objAccount.AllFolders
If objFolder.ObjType = egwPersonalFolder And objFolder.Shared = egwSharedIncoming and objFolder.Messages.Count > 0 Then
MsgBox objFolder.Name

Next

Make that

For Each objFolder In objAccount.AllFolders
If objFolder.ObjType = egwPersonalFolder And objFolder.Shared = egwSharedIncoming Then
MsgBox objFolder.Name

Re: Property "EnclosingFolders" not working for shared folders sinceGW7.0.3

Hi Tommy,

thank you for your answer. I guess I wasn´t clear in what we want to do:

- User A has a folder named "My Folder" and shares it with User B.
- User B links this shared folder as "His Folder" into his cabinet.
- Our program looks in user B´s mailbox and needs to get the name of the
folder in User A´s mailbox (because A is the owner)

I´m quite sure that the code sample you wrote give will give us the name
"His Folder" but we would like to get "My Folder". Just to make sure,
we´ll try it once more and let you know.

Thanks
Thomas

Re: Property "EnclosingFolders" not working for shared folders sinceGW7.0.3

It will, but AFAIK, there's no link what so ever between this, nor has ever been ?

I did ask Novell that excact same Q 1 year ago, and an RFE was locked for this, but it does have a low priority....

What I did as a workaround, was to guess, using a trusted app, and log into both accounts....

Then comparing date, from and subject...

Re: Property "EnclosingFolders" not working for shared folders sinceGW7.0.3

Hi all,

any update on this one as we have encounter the same problem on 7.0.3 that
cannot get the enclosingfolder property of those emails under shared
folders.

Re: Property "EnclosingFolders" not working for shared folderssinceGW7.0.3

Getting the enclosing folders on items in a shared folder
is not guaranteed to work and in some cases is disabled.
You will need to do a work around.

Re: Property "EnclosingFolders" not working for shared folders sinceGW7.0.3

thanks Preston, any hints on any workaround? we want to know which folder
the message is from when user reply to it.

C3PO to get the current folder is not gurarnteed if user does not reply the
email immediately and move to another folder.

thanks!

Re: Property "EnclosingFolders" not working for shared folderssinceGW7.0.3

Sorry, I don't have any good solutions.
First off, you would need to be a trusted application.
You would have to do a lot of extra steps and I can't
guarantee that you can find the correct folder.
