REST API Problem: Check Security Failure: User is not in add on management role | GW 18.2.1 135777

Jump to solution

Hello,

on creating a REST-API POST eg via curl or postman we get back the following error message:

CLI:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?><apiStatus xmlns:ns2="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"><error>true</error><httpStatus>FORBIDDEN</httpStatus><httpStatusCode>403</httpStatusCode><statusMsg>Check Security Failure: User is not in add on management role 'USER.DOMAIN.PO.RatzkePascal'</statusMsg></apiStatus>

gwadmin-service.log:

2020-06-24 16:56:43 GwExceptionMapper [INFO] 403 FORBIDDEN: Check Security Failure: User is not in add on management role 'USER.DOMAIN.PO.RatzkePascal'

Here's the curl statement:

curl -k --user sysadminuser:password -H "Content-Type:application/json" -X POST https://pdom:9710/gwadmin-service/domains/DOMAIN/postoffices/PO/users/RatzkePascal/vacationrule --data { .......}

both users: login user for API such as the target user RatzkePascal (which should be modified) are system administrators.

So does anyone know what is the "add on management role" and where can I find / modify them?

I've never heard about that and doesn't find some information in documentation ....

The Support won't help me, ticket is closed: "The REST API is only supported in the developer forums, please post your question there."

Thanks for your feedback!

best regards
Pascal

@pratzke

Hi Pascal,

In order to make use of the additional Mailbox Management features you:

1.  Need to be licensed for the Mailbox Management product.

2.  Need to then have enabled the Mailbox Management role on your account in the System Administrators

Cheers,

Laura

Hi @laurabuckley ,

many thanks for your fast reply.

The not enabled Mailbox Management role of the API-Login User was my problem.

It would be great if there would be an hint for the needed rights in the API documentation and maybe the error message info will be called "mailbox management role" instead of "addon management role".

Many thanks for your support and the fast solution.

Best regards
Pascal
