Removing events using removeItemsRequest

"An application can remove a list of event UIDs by calling removeItemsRequest and passing events in the container element and the UIDs in the itemRefList element. "

Anyone can tell me what should I put in a container field when I call removeItemsRequest to remove list of events?

<removeItemsRequest>
<container>events</container>
<items>
<item>1</item>
<item>2</item>
</items>
</removeItemsRequest>
