Will GroupwareTypeLibrary Interop library work with GroupWise 2018?

Jump to solution

Greetings,

We've been using GroupWise interop libraries such as Interop.GroupwareTypeLibrary (Version 1.0.0.0) and Interop.AdminTypeLibrary (1.0.0.0) for a while and with a great success. However we used to work with GroupWise 2012 / 2014. Now we're moving to GroupWise 2018 and I'm really curious if the very same interop libraries will work with the newer 2018 GroupWise version? Is there newer version of the interop libraries?

There is a new gwcma1.dll created with each build of the client. That contains all the the COM interfaces to the GroupwareTypeLibrary. The AdminTypeLibary is another story. There hasn't been any updates to that for a very long time. You will have to use the new REST Admin API access. You query the MTA on port 9710 (usually).

The libraries are backward compatible. They will work will on the newer clients. As we add newer features, member values or methods we make new revisions of the objects. You then have to know to ask for the right version of the object. For example, there seven versions of the Mail object: Mail1, Mail2, Mail3, Mail4, Mail5, Mail6 and Mail7. Depending on the functionality that you need, you  need to ask for that version. If you  don't need the new functionality, you can continue to work with version 1.0.0. It has been quite awhile since I have worked with the Object API. If you have more questions, I will wait for that team to respond to any other questions you might have.

That is a great news, thank you!

And another question to clarify things: there's no newer version of ObjectAPI dlls? The 1.0.0.0 version is the latest version for "Interop.GroupwareTypeLibrary.dll" and "Interop.AdminTypeLibrary.dll" libraries?
