retention timestamp + other questions

There seems to be a delay from when I set the retention timestamp till the
Groupwise client actually loads the new retention timestamp and lets the
user delete messages based on the new timestamp.

Does anybody know anything about this?

I would be interested in knowing how the client actually fetches the
retention timestamp.

Groupwise will use the 'internaldate' property on the message to verify if
a message can be deleted right?

Here are some other questions I have
- Does anybody know if RFC822 version email can be downloaded as
attachment on the Mail items in Groupwise 8.0 through Soap? So I have
heard.

Here is what I hope will be implemented:
- Trusted keys working on multiple domains.
- It would be nice to have a soap function to expand distribution lists.

Happy holidays.

Re: retention timestamp + other questions

The retention timestamp is not read until the GWClient
restarts or after every hour.
I believe the logic checks the delivered date.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by RFC822 mail being downloaded
as an attachment.
Mail items that come in through the internet through GWIA are
converted into GroupWise formatted emails. The original MIME is
saved as a mime.822 attachment. After that GroupWise does
nothing with the attachment. If an item has an embedded email,
we create an embedded mail attachment. You can get that attachment
using getItemRequest instead of getAttachmentRequest. There is still
just one mime.822 attachment. Again GroupWise does nothing with
the mime.822 attachment.

There is an enhancement in the Bonsai release where you can get
a mime formatted attachment on any GroupWise item, whether
or not it came in through GWIA.

I believe trusted application keys work throughout the system.

I don't know what you mean by expanding a distribution list.
You can get the members of a distribution list now. In what
context are you talking about?

Re: retention timestamp + other questions

Thanks for your reply.

About distribution lists. I was thinking of a function to expand
distribution lists (get members) via soap.

The Mail.distribution does not give me the expanded distribution list.

Re: retention timestamp + other questions

Are you talking about on a mail item or a address book?
If you are talking about a mail item, we don't expand
system address book distribution lists.
But, you can get the members from the address book.

Re: retention timestamp + other questions

I was talking about the Mail item.

Do you mean address book on the client?

We are a 3rd party solution, mainly doing archiving and av. We need the
expanded distributin list information as metadata with our archived
messages.

Currently we have other ways of expanding distribution lists.

Having it possible to do so via Soap would just make life easier for us 🙂
As will your Mime.822 attachments on the Mail items on internal traffic.
