GroupWise Mailbox Report Generator

GroupWise Mailbox Report Generator

Someone posted a question to the GroupWise support forum asking if any mailbox data is available in the GroupWise Admin Console. Unfortunately, only the mailbox size is available as a column in a user list. The poster specifically requested that the mailbox size limit would be useful to have.

This utility, MailboxSizeReport.exe was written in python using the GroupWise Rest API and compiled as a Windows (64-bit) application. Included in the download is a sample config file used to populate information on how to connect to the GroupWise Admin Service.

The utility will create an Excel spreadsheet showing all GroupWise users along with some user mailbox information. The information provided includes the GroupWise ID (Dom.PO.User), their current mailbox size in MB's, the mailbox size limit in MB's, the size threshold for warning users, and if the limits apply to the user's caching mailbox.

Please see the help function in the utility for further details.

An awesome tool, thank you very much Morris for putting this together and sharing.

Some observations for others using this:

mailboxreport.xls is nicely readable with LibraOffice Calc and was generated successfully with a Windows7 system that does NOT have Microsoft Office at all.

Setting the "Start in:" of a short cut to a different folder lets you have different gwconfig.cfg setups
Ex: ClientA "Start in:" d:\clients\ClientA\GWwork & ClientB "Start in:" d:\clients\ClientB\GWwork each with appropriate gwconfig.cfg

MailBoxSizeReport works when gwconfig.cfg has no password entered in gwconfig.cfg "gwpass = " and then shows as blank in MailBoxSizeReport to hopefully trigger you to enter the password. Leaving that level of password in a clear text file isn't the best of ideas.

mailboxreport.xls overwrites any previous file by that name without warning. So remember to rename your mailboxreport.xls as a part of your generating process if you wish to use them to keep track of user mailbox growth.

It would be nice to be able to configure a default directory for the report file in gwconfig.cfg so we wouldn't have to browse each time and also useful for using for multiple systems. Clearing "Other Explorer MRUs" with tools such as CCleaner resets the folder you were last in back to the Windows default.

It works a treat and it's faster than exporting out of the web interface and messing around with it.
I was unable to make it work. I have three post offices. A test PO that is not on a cluster and it works, and two production PO's that are on a cluster and it sits at the domain on the cluster for ours and never builds a user list for the domain or po's on the cluster. Any Ideas?
Sorry, I don't have any ideas on why it won't work on a cluster. Could be cert issues with the admin service on the domain cluster node. I'm off on medical leave right now and can not look into it.

I hope that you start feeling better.

Thank you!
