Accessing user data in Restore area

We have a recon mission to peruse GW data from a restored backup. As the user is still active, we cannot use the Restore area feature. Or at least, not as that actual user.

What's the best/easiest way for us to accomplish?

Using GW8 SP3.

The process is documented in Recover deleted mail for legal action - https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=3373106. It works for GroupWise 8 as well.
