Add Custom Email Headers

Is there a way to add custom email headers in GroupWise?

I have recently deployed a Sophos UTM firewall which has its own "SPX Encryption" which allows for email content monitoring and if something like a social security number or credit card are in the email message it will trap the message and send the recipient a message to log into the firewall's portal to access the message. I contacted Sophos' support who simply replied that they are not compatible with GroupWise, but since the firewall is simply acting as a SMTP relay, in my mind it shouldn't matter which email system is relaying through the firewall. Their instructions do say however that the email client just needs to allow for the creation of a custom header to work.

Has anyone been able to get GW to work with a Sophos UTM's SPX Encryption or is there a way to add a custom header to see if I can make this work? Thanks!

So far I've haven't tested the encryption side on Sophos' UTM so I can't
help there. So far we've been happy with confirming that our partners
have SSL set for their mail servers and have relied on that.

RTFMing the Sophos docs, it looks like you should be able to do the DLP
side without the added headers, that those headers are for additional
control of "I just want this message encrypted" beyond the DLP rules.
Make sure you are separating those two functions when talking with support
as that looks really bad on them to need the custom headers for just the
DLP bits.
Now you have me ready to ask my Sophos UTM customers if I can play with
this setting, I'll have to see if I can sell them on the value of me
getting it working for them (yes, somewhat mercenary of me 😉

As for custom headers, that would be a function handled at the GWIA level
even if some user options were to be made available to the client. As far
as I can tell, this function is not a current option, but this would make
a great Idea of an enhancement request.
in fact you intrigued me enough on this for me to create this Idea, so
please vote for it.

I've been working with a vendor of mine for the last couple of days and shared this post with him. You got 2 votes 🙂
