An error occurred while updating the directory

I have been getting this error every time a user tries to add a new
contact to their contact list. I now have the agent logging into
EDirectory with an Admin equivalent and no change. I have given all
necessary permissions for this to occur (trustee rights). I'm not really
sure what else to do. The error on the console is "DDC: Error writing to
the directory." Anyone experienced this?

This tid didn't help either Users can't add Contacts to Messenger. -

Re: An error occurred while updating the directory

follow TID 10060600 to get ds cleaned up.
Also, do you have a replica on the box with messenger on it?

Two other ideas:
1) delete all the messenger objects and reinstall,

2) switch to using LDAP instead of a direct connection to eDir

Re: An error occurred while updating the directory

I do. The server has a R/W replica and the state is synchronized. I will
check out that TID. DS in general appears healthy but I will follow the
steps outlined there first.
Thanks for responding.

Re: An error occurred while updating the directory

hi john,

any chance that you changed the user in the startup file?
