Automatic System Book Link

We've recently upgraded from Groupwise 6.5 to Groupwise 8.0 and have noticed that whenever a new contact is created in an address book, if the user exists in the system address book the contact is automatically linked to the system book copy. The contact's information is then overwritten. We've even tried exporting the new contact, erasing the GUID and then reimporting, however, the contact is once again immediately linked.

Upon further research we discovered the following TID which described the problem for GW 7:

New Contacts Created In Personal Address Book Manualy, Get Their GUID Field Filled In Automatically , When Their E-Mail Id Is Added

Does anyone know of any type of work around? We're trying to keep a separate address book with information slightly different from the copy in the system address book and would like to avoid the automatic link. Thanks.

Re: Automatic System Book Link

We are also suffering this problem.

There is a little detail about this maybe you have not suffered yet... if you delete the GW account and a contact is linked to it, then the contact in your contact list is automatically deleted!

Imagine you got important information about a person (private phone numbre, address, etc); it gets lost.

I think Novell should have fixed this a long time ago because it is really important.
