Bulk email

Is there a way to determine how many outgoing emails GW can process ?

Say over a 8 hour period.

I have a client who wants to send out 3000 - 4000 emails once a month
last time time they tried they ended up with 600 out of 2700 emails
being returned as NDR. All the email address are varified.

(one email - multiple recepient)

I have suggested they use a email marketting company.... but they are
reluctant to
pass on email addresses to 3rd party.

GroupWise truly has no limitations in this, other than bandwidth, of course.
If you are receiving undeliverables, it would be useful to see some of
them. For example, if you have multiple recipients at a given site (for
example, yahoo.com, aol.com, etc.), they may be bouncing due to the
recipient servers' restrictions. For example, a particular mail system may
limit the number of recipients on a message to avoid unsolicited email. It
may also have mail-bombing restrictions (similar to what can be turned on in
GW), that prevent more than "x" messages coming from the same server in a
certain timeframe, etc.

Just because addresses are valid doesn't mean that the mail server on the
other end isn't trying to block things.

You could look at something like Dave Parkes MassMail program
(www.caledonia.net/massmail.html) that sends individual email messages to a
list of recipients. This would help with the "too many recipients" issue,
but might not help with the "too many messages in a timeframe" problem.
