Can Web app on Linux communicate with Web agent on Netware?

Our Groupwise system is version 8.01 hp2 and currently hosted primarily on clustered Netware 6.5 SP8 servers. We have 7 webaccess agents running on 7 different Netware servers, all clustered. In the past we have used 3 other non-clustered Netware servers to host webaccess application and the system has worked well. Recently, one of the web app Netware servers had a hardware failure and in rebuilding it, we would like to convert it to Linux. I am having problems getting the webaccess application on the Linux box configured. My problem is that during the application configuration, the config process wants access to the wpgate directory of the agent which is on a Netware server. I read in another thread in this forum that the Commgr file can be copied to the Linux box to complete the installation, but that doesn't seem to work. Is this type of setup even supported? Can a Linux web application coexist and work with a Netware webaccess agent?

Re: Can Web app on Linux communicate with Web agent on Netwa

If I read the compatibility matrix correctly, the answer is "no"

Novell Documentation

I have a mix of both Linux and NetWare, but my Linux server is running the Web Application (ie, apache/tomcat) AND it also has the agent (ie: gwinter) on it. It seems any user connecting to THAT server only ever gets routed through the gwinter on that box

I also have a NetWare server with the web server (application) on it, and two NetWare Gwinters.

So if you're going to do "mixed" I'd say you could install a Linux/OES2 server and put the web application, MTA/gwinter on it and have both "co-exist" (depending upon the URL that your users hit)

Or just setup the linux one (provided you're all at like 8.x) and then the Linux webaccess components can talk to a NetWare POA.

Re: Can Web app on Linux communicate with Web agent on Netwa

I used to have GW7 webaccess agent on NW and the app on linux.

Now accessing using GW8 with the agent and app on linux..

I spent ages trying to work out the syntax for mounting the NW volume on linux..

See here for what I worked out.

Twisted Pear Networks: mounting netware on linux...

works ok, I have written a bash script to periodical check that the volume is still mounted and if it's not then it remounts and restars GW.
