Can't open, reply or forward messages on one specific PC

Have GW 18.1.1 client installed on a Windows 7 machine. All of a sudden, today any user on that specific machine can login to the GW client, and Quickviewer shows messages, but when you try to reply, open or forward, nothing happens. Basically anything that requires a new GW window to open does not work.

Anyone else ever experience this? What should I be looking for here?

There are a couple of ways to attack this:


  1. Follow basic troubleshooting techniques until you identify the cause.
  2. Just reinstall or repair the GroupWise client to see if it corrects the problem.


    I would do the easiest thing first and just reinstall the GroupWise client.

    I've opened a SR with MicroFocus.....so far have not found a solution.

    I have removed client, deleted associated program folders and registry keys, and then reinstalled client. So far, no solution.

    Waiting for more suggestions from MF

What you have done would suggest that the fault does not lie with the GroupWise client itself. While waiting for Tech Support, I would check Windows:


  • What updates were recently applied?
  • Can you try an earlier restore point?
  • Is there anything in the Windows event logs?
  • Have you tried the Windows system file checker: sfc /scannow

No recent updates (that I'm aware of) and unfortunately no restore points on that particular machine exist. I agree, it seems to be a Windows issue, but so far only the GW client is having any issues.

Nothing of note in event logs either.
