Cannot Empty Trash

We are using Groupwise 2014 R2 running on SLES 11. Recently we introduced Retain as an archiving solution.

One of my users has now reported that they cannot empty their trash and it does not appear to be affecting any other users. I have set auto delete after 30 days and empty trash after 1 day.

Their is no retention policy set on Retain.

I have run an analyse and fix on the mailbox but this didn't help. I have not run a mailbox rebuild - yet.

Any solution will be appreciated.

Thank you

Anthony

Re: Cannot Empty Trash

Hi Anthony,

I recommend using the GroupWise Backup Time Stamp utility to see existing time stamp on the user database and compare it to those who can empty their trash.

See here: https://www.novell.com/documentation/groupwise2014r2/gw2014_guide_admin/data/adm_db_util_gwtmstmp.html

Re: Cannot Empty Trash

Thanks Laura I will look at the time stamp.

Although I do not have the option checked at domain or post office level "Do Not purge items until they are backed up" if that makes any difference.

Re: Cannot Empty Trash

Hi Laura,

The timestamp on the Retention was the issue. Once reset I was able to empty the trash.

My main problem was trying to figure out the syntax.

On Linux you run it from the folder where you find the gwtmstmp - usually opt/novell/groupwise/agents/bin/ ./gwtmstmp -p [groupwise po path and po name] -s -n -u [username]

Thanks again.
