Cannot connect to Mobility Server with iOS 13 devices

Jump to solution

I am having problems getting Apple phones recently upgrades to iOS 13 (13.1 I believe) to connect to Mobility server.  Must be a certificate trust issue, but I am not sure what.  I've had to import a security certificate in the last few versions of iOS, but now that is not working either.  Any ideas?

Thanks

From my experience, if the certs had once been accepted by the yuppie-cookie (at times when this has been easily to accomplish) they most of the time were still accepted after the device had been upgraded to a build which would refuse to accept them on adding a new account.

Nevertheless the issues will vanish once you have an official cert online.

What version of Mobility?  Self-signed or CA certificate?

I am running GMS 18.1.1 Build 483 and have iOS/iPadOS 13.x devices connecting without a problem.  I am using a purchased certificate.

My recommendation is replace that self-signed cert with a purchased one.  It will simplify things for you.  If you want to stick with the self-signed, maybe someone else will have a solution.  Sorry, but I just don't bother trying to make those work.  I would rather spend a few bucks on a purchased cert.

Must be a certificate trust issue,

best way to check is to point Qualys SSL Labs test tool  at your mobility

I save (print to pdf or xps as available) them so I have a snapshot in time as I work on getting better ratings.

relevant to this is the version of SLES that GMS is running on as well as the version of GMS and what kind of cert you have. LetsEncrypt is working well for some some of us.

Hi,

Ensure your certificates meet the new iOS13 standards:  https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT210176

IOS no longer accepts self-signed certificates, that's not even new with IOS 13, but is true since 11,something.

That's interesting because I've had self-signed certs working up until now.

What's even weirder, is I do have some older iPhones that just udpated to iOS 13 and they are still working, but newer iPhones on 13 are not, getting the "cannot verify identify of server".

I will have a signed certificate in place from DigiCert later today and see if this fixes the issue.
