Client on Windows 10 - cannot create mapi profile

Hi guys,

we updated last week from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
Everythings fine till we wanted to updated/install the GW 2012 SP4 Client.
The installation get problems with "creating Groupwise mapi profile"

Here are the properties of the current mapi32.dll

Re: Client on Windows 10 - cannot create mapi profile

Hi Gerd,

I haven't tried the 2012 client with Windows 10, so I can't give a definite on my real world experiences.

Sorry to have to say that officially GroupWise 2014 R2 is the first version to support Windows 10 and AFAIK 2012 is /not/ supported on Windows 10.
I will spin up a fresh install of Win 10 and let you know the results of a 2012 SP4 client install in that.

From my very quick tests I can report that the GroupWise 2012 SP4 client install runs without issue on a freshly installed Windows 10 64bit Pro VM.

The client also seems to function normally (open messages, reply, look in the address book).

In your post you mention you have updated to Windows 10. Is that a literal upgrade on a running Windows 7 system, or by swapping out with a freshly installed Windows image?

Cheers,

The free Windows 10 Update on a running Win 7 System.

We tested something
When we install Office 386 the GW-Client installation was successful.

There is something I don´t understand:
GW-Client from the updated Win 7 System to Win 10 do his work.
But when you want to update the Client to SP4 on Win 10 the errors appears.

Hehe...
I told him to remove the client, give temporarily admin rights to the local user and install again. I may have time to check it onsite tomrrow, not sure yet.

Thatnks for checking, that's what I told him too. 😉 The error message
is exactly the one you get when some third party program has replaced
mapi with some proprietary stuff in former windows version, like e.g
Thunderbird as default mail client or some such.

What he forgot to mention, which also confirms there's a mapi issue, is
that if Office 365 is installed with Outlook before GW, it works too.
