Delay Delivery not working

Hi

We have found that the Delay Delivery function does not seem to be working.

I have tested firstly by only delaying by 1/2 an hour, and by a day. Both messages are still sitting in my Sent Items as Pending. This has worked in the past, but i'm not sure when it has stopped working.

Is there something fundamental I'm missing, or could this be a bug?

With thanks
Emily

Hi Emily,

What version of GroupWise, including SP, is your backend and your client?

Re: Delay Delivery not working

Hi,

Assuming there is not some other reason for delivery to be delayed ( external host down ) it can be a corrupt ngwdfr.db database in the POA. You may be able to see this in the POA logs when the user tried to send the message.

To fix this, temporarily stop the POA, rename the ngwdfr.db to ngwdfr.db.bad, then start the POA. Note: stopping the POA is NOT necessary if the ngwdfr.db is not open. You can determine if it is open using lsof on Linux ( lsof | grep -i ngwdfr ), or checking for open files on with MONITOR on NetWare. If the file is not open, no need to stop the POA.

TRY to send a delayed message, it will most likely work. The next time you run a gwcheck it may find other delayed messages and try to send them. Sometimes this is the source for mysterious really old messages being delivered. But it does fix the problem, and its worth fixing.

Hi Bob/Laura

Thanks for the info, it was the ngwdfr.db file. All working now.
