Distribution Lists

I have been asked if I can add a person to a Distribution List.
The person is NOT in our system and works at a consulting firm.
What is the method to add a Non GroupWise person to a System Distribution List?
Thank you for your help!

Two ways I can think of
1) is based on how we routed things before "Internet Addressing" was
added to GroupWise.
Where you create an external "Domain" that gets linked directly to
GWIA, and then create enternal users in there that can then be attached
to the Distribution list.

Now I have no idea if this will still work on GW2012 or later, but if
you want to give it a try, check out the relevant docs (the newest I
could find with it still in)

2) create a local GWIA ID for this person, with a auto forward and
purge rule. Flatforwarding on GWIA helps for this depending on what is
As a Consultant myself with involvement in my client's GW systems, so I
do have accounts on a few of them. I actually ran into the limit of
only 10 accounts on the old BlackBerries, much better on my Q10

Further to what Andy has said, here's a TID explaining the process to setup what is required to add external addresses to your GroupWise system:
