Does Send/Receive syncs every email ?

Hello members!

Today lots of GW users in caching mode experienced the following:
After the long weekend users were missing emails between 27 okt and 02 nov. After every send/receive cycle more and more emails appeared in caching mode. Emails were there in online mode. Is this WAD? How can I configure this? Does the client download only few emails in every send/receive cycle?

Thx,
Gellert

Hi Gellert,

To be honest I have not seen this behaviour before. My experience is that all mail is synced on the send/receive cycle.

What you could check is: Accounts | Account Options | Properties | Advanced | ensure that Get Contents Regardless of Size is selected.

Re: Does Send/Receive syncs every email ?

Hello Laura,

Get Contents Regardless of Size is selected in my mailbox. I doubt that thousands of users have changed this in their caching mailbox. And this has a different effect that what I experienced.
As far as I know, developers have rewritten the code that downloads large attachments from server to desktop in online mode. Maybe they have also added some yet undocumented features to the caching mode? Who knows.
I don't know what to do.

Gellért

Re: Does Send/Receive syncs every email ?

Hi,

that's not an unusual behaviour. We have experienced it with GW 2014R2
and older versions. It seems that the Client is downloading only part of
the new data during a single sync cycle and catches up with each
additional cycle. On which guideline it decides to split the data is
unknown to us.

If you experience this issue, it can help to use "Tools / Retrieve entire
mailbox".

Cheers,
Frank

Re: Does Send/Receive syncs every email ?

Hello Members,

It happened again. Lots of users reporting that they are missing email from their mailboxes from Friday to Monday. It has to do something with DST (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time). But of course I cannot reproduce it. DST is only twice in a year. 🙂
