Extended characters are not displayed correctly on GroupWise

Jump to solution
Good day,

A user, eg Paul Krüger email address shows as  paul.kr?ger@novell.comin GroupWise
but it shows correctly in edir, paul.kruger@novell.com not in GroupWise.

Seems that GroupWise does not process extended characters correctly.

Can someone please advise on that.

Hi.

One: Paul.krüger@whatever.com is an illegal email address. Extended characters are not allowed.

Two. The eDir attribute email address can, but absolutely doesn't have to be related to groupwise at all. What Groupwise shows is mandatory. If the last name of the user is "krüger", you must override the default email address.

@andrewm

You don't say what version and build of GroupWise you are using.  I can't seem to duplicate the issue on GroupWise 18.2:

What am I missing?

Cheers,

As Laura i also can't dupe this on current code. But as you really don't want these characters in an email address you should override it here

anyway.

You're welcome.

And just in case, because this indeed comes up regularly:

Extended characters are universally not allowed in email addresses worldwide, this is in no way a restriction in Grouwpise only. Very many admins and users out there plain don't know or even don't believe that.
