Fetch POP3 email without GW client

GW2012 on OES 2 (SLES11)
is there anyway to fetch mail from a POP3 server ?

I know I can set this up in the client but that means client must run all
the time

on Netware there used to be a pop3 agent

Perhaps something can be done with linux compenents like fetch mail but how
would I get it into GW then?

Using fetchmail:
#--------------------------
set postmaster "someuser@domainname.com"

set daemon 300

poll pop3.emailserver.com with proto POP3 and options no dns
localdomains domainname.com
user user@domain.com pass "Passw0rd" is user@domainname.com here options
ssl
#--------------------------

Use ssl if the remote server needs it.

I hope this helps.

If a tool like fetch mail pulling in messages over pop, but then act as an
IMAP client to populate a GW account
