File Location - Archive Directory

We use a default Archive Directory File Location that points to a mapped network drive. However, the setting isn't locked down so users can change it to whatever they want (it wasn't my idea). The first thing I have to do when troubleshooting an archive problem for a user is ask them what their setting is.

Can the wpdomain.db, wphost.db or userfid.db (or someplace else) be interrogated for the user's archive file location?

Thx!

No, no, and maybe.
In GW admin, Check the User's client settings to see if the archive
file location got updated there as I have seen that happen
occasionally. Just not on my current tests that also don't show the
activity on the POA logs 😞
Sadly I can't find a way of extracting that data for all users with
what comes with GroupWise.
GWAVA's Vertigo has the ability though
https://www.gwava.com/vertigo-groupwise-mailbox-management

Of course you could also make sure the setting is set back to where it
should be and then LOCK it in place if you can get that pushed though.
Then wait for screams <weg>

Re: File Location - Archive Directory

Hi Andy,
Sorry for the delayed reply. Unfortunately, a client's actual settings don't update what shows in their Client Options. T'would be nice if they did. The pain level (mostly mine) hasn't reached the point where I'll get much/any support for locking down archive file location....
thx!

Pity, it would be a good Idea https://ideas.microfocus.com/MFI/novell-gw/
if you wanted to create one. If so do post it here.

As the pain being mostly yours, well I'm sure management will say that is
what they pay you for. <sigh>
Is there any regulatory requirement for the archival? If so you can point
back to that as archiving elsewhere would break that chain needed.
Actually if you have any real regulatory requirement, you really should
get a real archival system such as GWAVA's Retain that is now becoming a
Micro Focus group. Am looking forward to getting my paws on those forums
when they join these.

We don't have any regulatory requirements; phew. I'll take a look at the ideas page.

Yet. As in you don't have such requirements that you are aware of yet.
Fingers crossed it stays that way.
