GMS 14.2 Issues

Hiya.

I've got a couple of issues...

1: Appointments seem all over the place on 14.2 GMS Some are there, some not, some appear when you actually drill down into the day but not before. I understand there might be some sort of hotfix for this? I've raised a support email and am waiting to hear back from support about this.

2: There seems to be a lot of issues when users have an iPad and an iPhone, they don't seem to be quite in sync most of the time, Before 14.2 no issues with having multiple devices but lots of problems with users complaining on 14.2 about differences between the two devices?

I've looked up the info on maintenance of the database on the server, https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7009453 This link shows how to do it for GMS1 and GMS2 does the how to for GMS2 apply still to 14.2 and is it worth giving that a try?

So my response to booktrunk's comment is...

I ran these steps (vacuum and reindex) on my GMS 14.2 server and they
seemed to work fine.

Re: GMS 14.2 Issues

I wonder how long it will take 🙂 Started it 3 hours ago and it's still plodding along 🙂

I'm up to.....
NOTICE: table "syncenginedata" was reindexed 🙂

Getting there.

Re: GMS 14.2 Issues

Just finished, we will see how it goes tomorrow, see what sort of feedback I get from our users. So 310ish devices and it took 3hours 15mins to do.

So my response to booktrunk's comment is...

Oof.

One thing I did run into, after GMS services started back up, I could
not get into the web console until after stopping and starting GMS
again.

One of those perpetually loaded questions
.... It depends:
- on size/# of users/devices/messages
- when was it last run
- available resources such as CPU & RAM

Now you have a reference time for next time, and now we are awaiting if
it fixed things for you.

Re: GMS 14.2 Issues

Please let us know if this worked. I've got that exact problem here.
Of course, it's the CEO's iPad calendar that is the most messed up.

Re: GMS 14.2 Issues

We had two users with notable iPad/iPhone calendar issues. The database
maintenance process did not work by itself to straighten out any
calendars, so for the worst-affected user, I removed the account from
the device, clicked "reinitialize device" in GMS, then added the account
back to the device. After 90 minutes, all appointments were present.

For the second user, the same process still left a few recurring
appointments off the device. Re-sending those appointments solved this
problem. This is the least-confusion way of doing that:
Log in to the mailbox of the sender of the missing appointment
Right-click the appt in question and select "edit"
Send without making any changes
If prompted that there's a schedule conflict, schedule this appointment
anyway

Users who already have the appt on their calendar (including the one
who's missing it on the iDevice) won't notice anything different in
their windows client calendar, but it gets through to the iDevice.

Impossible to say whether this means "problem solved," though. I sure
hope to see perfect synchronization continue. It's not pretty when the
CEO's calendar isn't accurate.

Re: GMS 14.2 Issues

We can attest to seeing many issues with GW/GMS 14.2.

We have been provided multiple FTFs with much improved results and it looks like 14.2.1 (HP1) will clean it all up.

Its been very frustrating and we have a weekly call with senior MicroFocus GW management to review.

And yes it has impacted our senior management users.
