GW2012 and OES2015SP1

Hi,

prior a migration of an clustered GW-Installation (2012) to GW2014R2SP?
we have to migrate the cluster nodes to OES2015SP1.

Will GW2012 run on OES2105SP1/SLES11SP4?

Best regards

Bernd

Hi Bernd,

There are two things to consider:

  • Will it run?
  • Is it supported?

The GroupWise 2012 Administrator Quick Start states:
GroupWise System Requirements
Any of the following server operating systems for the GroupWise agents:

  • Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES) 2 (Linux version) or OES 11, plus the latest Support Pack
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 10 or SLES 11, plus the latest Support Pack
  • Windows Server 2003, Windows 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2012, plus the latest Service Pack

On the other hand, the GroupWise 2014 R2 Installation Guide (GroupWise System Requirements > GroupWise Administration Requirements) states:
Hardware and Operating System Requirements[/URL]
Any of the following server operating systems for the GroupWise agents (Post Office Agent, Message Transfer Agent, Document Viewer Agent, Internet Agent, Monitor Agent):

  • Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES) 11 or Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES) 2015, plus the latest Support Pack
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11 or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server ...

The documentation states that GroupWise 2012 is supported on SLES 11 but it does not specifically state OES 2015. What this usually means is that it hasn't been tested on OES 2015. It may work just fine but if you do encounter issues, you may not have the support you want.

Is it possible to do your GroupWise upgrade before doing your cluster upgrade?

Groupwise 2012 isn't supported anymore, anwhere, so that's a moot point.
