GWCheck: deldupfolders did not resolve problems

Hi Forum,

we run every weekend content gwchecks on all post offices.
One User is suspicious with entries like:
- checking Folder records
Problem 79- Folder Primärbuch (record 53959) duplicates folder 53958 at the same level
- Renaming folder to Primärbuch.dup1
- Record 53959 updated successfully

This goes on until Primärbuch.dup1456
After multiple gwchecks with misc option "DELDUPFOLDERS" only up to "Primärbuch.dup483" are left.
But I can't get them deleted/fixed.
One Error in the log file is:
Return from WpPabRemoveDuplicateBooks = 0xE71E

Could this be the cause why the other 483 duplicated primary books are still there? Unfortunately I can't find anything about this error code... how can I fix this?

Thanks in advance,
Pascal

Hi Pascal,

Sorry for the late response. Are you running the GWCheck from a standalone Windows client?

Let us know.

Re: GWCheck: deldupfolders did not resolve problems

Hi Laura,

no problem, I was also in holidays until now 🙂
If I remember correctly I started the gwcheck via C1. Does this have any influence and if so, why?

Cheers,
Pascal

Re: GWCheck: deldupfolders did not resolve problems

Hi Pascal,

Hope that you had a good holiday.

I have found that certain misc. switches work better from the standalone Windows version of GWCheck - I'm not sure why this is!

Let us know how it goes.

Re: GWCheck: deldupfolders did not resolve problems

Hi Laura,

let the gwcheck run with "DELDUPFOLDERS" on a standalone xp machine did not help, even if the log file has multiple lines of "deleted duplicate folder successfully"
Also used the switch PABDELDUPREC without success.
But let gwcheck run on the server (oes2/linux) itself fixed it (with DELDUPFOLDERS not PABDELDUPREC!).
Sure I had to let it run multiple times, but I read that this is business as usual with duplicated folders.

Problem solved, thanks 🙂
Have a nice day!

Cheers,
Pascal

Re: GWCheck: deldupfolders did not resolve problems

Hi,

unfortunately another customer has now the same problem. She has thousands of primary address books which makes her Client very slow when compose a new message.
The above procedure did not delete the duplicates.
Now I'm curious if I can delete the first primary address book with some gwcheck or some other way? Maybe after that the duplicates also can be deleted.

I thought about that because of a gwcheck option (SUBJECTPURGE=subject) which can delete mail with a specific subject. maybe I can do this for a address book?!

Thanks,
Pascal

Re: GWCheck: deldupfolders did not resolve problems

Hi,

issue is resolved.
What helped:
- remove all shares from all address books
- export and delete all address books (except novell groupwise addressbook)
- run gwcheck with DELDUPFOLDERS, PABFIX multiple times

After that all 2800 primary books were gone except one 🙂
I could recreate the deleted addressbook and import all stuff.

Cheers,
Pascal
