GWIA 8hp2 Send Failure : 501 5.5.4

After upgrading GroupWise 7.03 to 8.00hp2, e-mail to some (not all) mail servers give back a Send Failure: 501 5.5.4 Invalid Address

When I put the GWIA 7.03 back in the system, things work fine.

Some body an idea to fix this problem, or just run 7.03 GWIA till next service pack ?

Almost certainly a misconfigured DNS/Hostname configuration in your
GWIA8. That must hold the official, public, internet DNS name of your
server (often mail.yourdomain.com)

I'm having the same problem after upgrading my 7.02 GWIA to 8.00HP2
I have verified the Hostname/DNS A record is correct and the reverse
lookup is correct. The DNS records have not changed in years and I
never had this problem before upgrading.

Are you odiris.nl or are you sending an email TO someone @odiris.nl?

How do you *know* it's the same? Installing GW8 over GW7 will alter the
configuration based on the settings you give it during the install. And
what exactly *is* it set to? (Please specify settings in ConsoleOne, but
also verify if there's a /HN switch in gwia.cfg, and post what it
contains, if any)

Re: GWIA 8hp2 Send Failure : 501 5.5.4

Oké I think I have find it : the Hostname configuration was the same and that’s the problem,
GWAI 8 don’t like quotes (TID 7003622) and the /HN- switch was /HN-"mx1.amarantis.nl"
By removing the quotes in the /HN switch in the gwia.cfg GWIA8 works fine.

Thanks.

In fact, the whole /HN switch in GWIA.CFG shouldn't even exist. Except
the necessary paths, gwia.cfg should be empty, as since GW7, all GWIA
configuration comes from the domain database, and that's the only place
ConsoleOne looks at or alters. If you have settings configured through
gwia.cfg, consoleone can't chnage them, and will also not whoe them,
they are manual overrides.

And yes, I know. GW8 is buggy in that regard, in that it doesn't clean
up gwia.cfg as it should.

Re: GWIA 8hp2 Send Failure : 501 5.5.4

We encountered this same situation last week during the same type of upgrade. While gwia.cfg might be unecessary, the TID does say that /hn should have a value that has no quotes surrounding it.

Worked with GW 7.0.3HP2 , but not as well with GW 8.0 HP2.

I also have the same problem. I have no /hn switch in gwia.cfg and consoleone shows the proper domain name. The reverse resolves to the exact same value in hostname field. I have a number of servers that are reporting this invalid address error.
