GroupWise 14.2.2 HP1 MMC Plugin Error 400

Hello

when we add a new User in Active Directory the User is created in GroupWise, but not associated.

We get the following Error message:

Error occured while associating user to GroupWise Post Office.

Http return status code: 400

Http return status message: Bad Request

Http response: Failed to lookup DN:

CN=adnotwork,OU=Mailkonto,OU=user,OU=kabe,DC=kabe,DC=ch

we can go to the GroupWise admin console and manually associate the user, of course (but that is not the idea).

When installing the GroupWise MMC plugin, the Test on the configuration page reported "success". So i guess at least the plugin is configured correctly.

Thank you

Andrej

Hi Andrej,

On your GroupWise server what errors are in the gwadmin-service.log file at the time you were performing this operation?

Re: Antw: Re: GroupWise 14.2.2 HP1 MMC Plugin Error 400

Hi Andrej,

In your GroupWise Admin Console --> System --> LDAP Servers --> the configuration of your AD Directory --> the Address that you filled in, is it an IP address or a DNS name? Also, what did you set the Base DN to on the same screen?

Re: Antw: Re: GroupWise 14.2.2 HP1 MMC Plugin Error 400

Hi Andrej,

When you manually associate the user are you doing it on the user object itself, or are you going to System --> Directory Associations --> and doing a search for the user?
When you configured the MMC plugin did you enter the IP address (same as your LDAP settings in GW Admin Console) or did you perhaps use a DNS name?

Please let us know.

Antw: Re: GroupWise 14.2.2 HP1 MMC Plugin Error 400

Hi Laura

i do associate manually on the newly created user object (walking down the LDAP-Tree to the correct OU and picking the user in the AD).

i did enter the IP address when configuring the MMC plugin.

Actually, i paid attention the enter exactly the same information as with the iManger plugin (where everything worked great, but as the customer unfortunately is switching to AD...)

Honestly, my first thought was that the GroupWise MMC-plugin gets back to early to AD before MS has fully created the new user (as the error box shows the right LDAP-DN).

But thinking it over, that would mean that this process does not work at all. And i did not dare to take that assumption.

Thank you

Andrej

Re: Antw: Re: GroupWise 14.2.2 HP1 MMC Plugin Error 400

Hi Andrej,

I would test the following in the GroupWise Admin Console --> System --> Directory Associations --> your Base DN should display as "ou=kabe,dc=kabe,dc=ch". Leave context empty and select Search Sub-Tree. See if that is able to search for users that need to be associated.

Re: Antw: Re: GroupWise 14.2.2 HP1 MMC Plugin Error 400

Hi Andrej,

Question is - does it find the user that can't be associated automatically during creation? Perhaps test this for me.
