GroupWise 2014 R2 High POA CPU Utilization

We just upgraded to GroupWise 2014 R2 from GroupWise 2012 12.0.3

We are running into issue where the POA CPU utilization is very high from 200% up to 1000%

I have an open ticket with Novell. I am trying to see if anyone else has this problem.

Our technician had us install a FTF gw14.2.0-122716 yesterday. Still have no effect.

The high POA is killing our clients and very slow.

The server is running SLES 11 SP3 fully patched
OES 11 SP2 fully patched

Any ideas... Thanks...

that makes me wonder if there is a resource limit being hit.
I've seen that happen when a server starts having to go to swap file
too much and/or having problems/delays talking to its drives.
I am currently dealing with such an issue where there are sporadic high
latencies to the SAN that show as very high utilization on the disk
access such as the POA or every regular file access.

We are also seeing higher than usual POA CPU utilization (compared to previous versions), although not to the extent described here!

Hi,

As asked here, what file system is in use?

If NSS please ensure that Salvage is turned off and that the noatime is set correctly on the GroupWise volumes.

If EXT3 it is recommended to disable H-Tree - see here: https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7011432

Please let us know how it goes.

Cheers,
Laura Buckley
