GroupWise 6.5.5 & Excel 2003 Integration Issue

We are running GroupWise 6.5.5 on our Citrix MetaFrame Presentation
Server 4.0 on a 2003 Server Platform. GroupWise is integrated with Excel
2003. When Excel documents are opened outside of the GroupWise Library,
they trigger the GroupWise client to open. We are trying to stop this
from happening.

Excel 2003 integration during setup did not work until we copied
the 'gwxl97.xla' into Microsoft Office\Office11d\XLSTART.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thankyou

Re: GroupWise 6.5.5 & Excel 2003 Integration Issue

Because the startup macro in Excel needs GW open to be able to operate, so
you can't really juggle between the two easily. Well, you can, but you do
need to always have GW open and use the 'Use Application Dialog' option in
the ODMA file save/open screens

Re: GroupWise 6.5.5 & Excel 2003 Integration Issue

Thanks for your reply Dave. Our DMS users's desktops run XP Pro /
Windows 2000 Pro. If the users open Excel outside of GW, even though
they are integrated with Excel, GW is not triggered to open. This only
happens to our remote users who log into Citrix and open Excel on Citrix,
not on their desktops directly. Most of our remote users use GW
caching. As a result we do not want GW to be triggered to open.

Just curious - do the remote users have administrative rights that login to
the Citrix server?

Re: GroupWise 6.5.5 & Excel 2003 Integration Issue

Even when they try to Open a file within Excel, I'd have expected that to
need GW around.

I've no experience of Citrix, but I'm puzzled that you have GW locally,
and run Excel remotely ?. Does the Citrix copy of Excel have the same GW
startup macro in place,

Cheers Dave

Hi Dave

Our concern is for our outside users who we have on GroupWise caching
mode. When they connect to our central location on Citrix and open an
Excel file, GroupWise opens automatically. These are reps who have
procedures to follow to link both GroupWise to our central database in
Magic. We do not want GroupWise to be invoked for these particular
users. The startup macros are in Citrix and our problem is integration
being too tight.

Re: GroupWise 6.5.5 & Excel 2003 Integration Issue

So if only need the Citrix users to not have the integrations, can't you
just remove the integrations from the Citrix copies of Excel ?

Cheers Dave
