Where you get this version from?

Re: GroupWise Client Install

Hi Gotthard,

You will need to open a Service Request with Micro Focus to get the FTF Client.

I also reported the bug with the wrong install parameter regarding to VC
2013, but NTS didn´t gave me a link. 😞

BTW: it´s a hard thing to change speaking "novell" to "micro focus". Old
habits die hard...

sorry Gotthard, I was on vacation for a couple of days. As Laura already
said, you have to open a SR and ask for that version.

Re: GroupWise Client Install

Is getting the SR opened going to be something that I can do without paying for the SR? Being in K-12 Education getting SR's are difficult at best for major issues. I would like to get this working but have yet to find a good solution. I either get a error stating a lot of files are missing or that a mail client needs to be registered. I have followed the Online documentation for ZCM deployment but have had none of my client installs work. Strange thing is the Upgrade prompt seems to deploy out (SetupIP) without issue for most clients. I have only have a few of the upgrades fail. Usually means I have to deploy manually when it does.

Richard,

Did you see the notes I posted near the top of this thread about my
ZCM deployment? I've been doing ZCM deployments of the client since
at least version 2012 and they work great. The only issue I ran into
was if the GroupWise client is running when the install kicks in
sometimes the install would fail. So I added a step to exit Groupwise
using the taskkill command first.

Re: GroupWise Client Install

After reviewing all the steps you listed and verifying that everything was the same with my install I decided to start completely over from the beginning. I deleted the bundle and let ZCM site for the weekend. I re-downloaded the install files per your instructions and stepped through everything again. This time I was successfully, so far, in getting the client to deploy to new installs as well as upgrade the older ones. I did modify the taskkill process and used a powershell script since I didn't want to have any further errors. This Action runs the powershell script that checks if either grpwise.exe or notify.exe is running and kills the process as needed.

# get grpwise process
$grpwise = Get-Process 'grpwise*' -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
if ($grpwise) {
# try gracefully first
$grpwise.CloseMainWindow()
# kill after five seconds
Sleep 5
if (!$grpwise.HasExited) {
$grpwise| Stop-Process -Force
}
}
Remove-Variable grpwise

# get Notify process
$notify = Get-Process 'notify*' -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
if ($notify) {
# try gracefully first
$notify.CloseMainWindow()
# kill after five seconds
Sleep 5
if (!$notify.HasExited) {
$notify | Stop-Process -Force
}
}
Remove-Variable notify

Other then that everything else is the same and is working.

Thanks for the assistance.

Don´t forget to add addrbook.exe and gwsync.exe in your check for
running tasks.

There is also an "End Process" action that can be used in your bundle instead of using powerschell to terminate processes: https://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks114/zen11_cm_software_distribution/data/action_stopprocess.html

Re: GroupWise Client Install

So I Had this same exact problem and submitted an SR and they told me to push bundle a different way then what was in the documentation.

- Edit setup.cfg using Notepad.exe

[SHOWSETUP]
ShowDialogs=No
ShowProgress=No
ShowFinish=No

- copy setup.cfg to the following locations: client folder and to the win32 folder

-RaR/Zip client folder
- Right click client folder
- Select Add to Archive...
- Archive name client.rar

Bundle

- Create GW folder in %SYSTEMROOT%\hiddenfolder

- Install File client.rar to %SYSTEMROOT%\hiddenfolder\GW

- run Script
**this script unrars client folder in specified location**

cd C:\program Files\WinRAR
unrar x C:\Windows\hiddenfolder\GW\client.rar C:\Windows\hiddenfolder\GW
exit

- Launch setup.exe from C:\Windows\hiddenfolder\GW\client\win32
-using /silent
-Must be done as DAU

- Remove file desktop shortcut

Sorry this is a copy of my notes on what I did to get it to work. I was having an issue with uploading all of the files in client folder so I decided to .rar/.zip them. So I am only moving one file instead of 3300 separately.
