Groupwise client crashes in modul ucrtbase.dll when entering text

Jump to solution

Windows 10
Groupwise Client 2018.2.1

Hello,

I try to send a mail. When I enter some characters, Groupwise ends silently.
In Windows event log I find the attended data.
The error seems to come since several weeks in some cases, but I didn't find out the reason.

What's wrong?

Holger

@Verwaiser

Hi Holger,

If you login to the GroupWise client on a different workstation does the crash still happen?

Cheers,

Laura

Why don't you use gw18.3 ?
There is a new build

What's your version of ucrtbase.dll (which is part of the MS Visual C runties GW uses)?

Unfortunately, the GW Client is notorious for shipping outdate Microsoft runtimes. On most machines that doesn't cause problems as countless other software may have shipped with more recent ones.

<Edit> Heck, you already posted your version. I compared it with mine, I have 10.0.19041.719, aka much newer than yours. I suggest you download the latest runtimes here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0
And try again.

@LauraBuckley

Hello,

yes, I did.

One problem is, that the crash isn't repeatable, today e. g. everything worked fine.

@greiner

Hello,

I thing, it could be a big process and in times of "Corona-Lockdown" I  dont want to risk the current functionality of the email system. I want to avoid, colleges killing me if the update fails...

;8-)

@mrosen

Hello Herr Rosen,

an update of VC runtime didn'T change the version of ucrtbase.dll, I read, it comes with W10.

Today GW worked fine, I've to look if the problem of the last weeks disappeared in miraculous way....

Thanks for help,

Holger
