Groupwise has prevented images on this page from displaying

Hi,

Running GW2014.0.2 on SuSE server with SLES11sp3

Inbound mail often has embedded .gif's and content that the users want to see. When this mail arrives the user receives a "warning" in the client that "Groupwise has prevented images on this page from displaying. Click here to display"

Now my users no longer want to "click here", they want the mail displayed automatically without the warning message or having to click ....
I would like to make this the default from the domain/post office level downwards.

Regards
John

Re: Groupwise has prevented images on this page from display

Hi John,

Sorry for the VERY slow response.

From what I've been able to determine this behavior is controlled by the registry and not stored in the user db. Due to the fact that it's not in the user db it can't be controlled centrally. When I turn this setting on/off I see a lot of registry read/writes but have been unable to nail down the exact registry setting. It would appear that it is not writing to the GroupWise section of the registry, but instead the Internet Explorer area of the registry in a million different places.

I'm honestly not sure if this behavior/setting can be moved out of the registry and into the user database thus allowing central administration. But I do think that it's worthy of an "Idea" so go here:

and create an "Idea". Let me know once done and I will go vote for it 🙂

Re: Groupwise has prevented images on this page from display

Hi,

So after much fiddling I found the following:

The company is quite restrictive about internet access (except IT) so when a mail is received that has embedded images on the internet and the user has not authenticated thru the firewall, then the gif's and some content gets "broken". The other issue is in the Groupwise client under "Tools" ---> "Options" ---> "Environment" ---> "HTML Browser", I changed the setting from "Default" to "Internet Explorer" (I use Firefox" without issues, but most of my users have IE) and then in IE under "Tools" ---> "Internet Options" ---> "Security" I set the security option to "Medium-Low" (not really sure if this had an any effect) and everyone is happy, except for the guys who have very limited internet access...
