Hyperlinks do not open

Upgraded to 2014SP2 over break.

It was relatively easy.

We can not open a hyperlink, with in an e-mail, by clicking.

Right clicking and say open in new tab results in hyperlink opening.

Happy new year (in two days)

Re: Hyperlinks do not open

I've seen this behaviour and it is different from 2012 WebAccess. Hyperlinks are bugged in 2014 SP2.

If I click a http hyperlink in Firefox 43.x (was same in 42.x) nothing happens. After trying to open a link, Firefox's https lock icon says "Firefox has blocked parts of this page that are not secure", our WebAccess is obviously secured by SSL. Now if I disable the non-SSL blocking, the link opens inside the mail item window (annoying!! :(), I think in 2012 WebAccess links always opened in a new tab instead? All my emails that behave this way seem to countain images and are html formatted.

Strangely, a Novell patch download survey link opens without problems, although it is a http link too. The difference is that this email doesn't countain any images and it's not html formatted.

If I control-click a http hyperlink, it opens in a new tab. Right-clicking and choosing open in a new tab / window also works...

Https links seem to open OK, in a new tab as they should.

I also tried IE10, and it blocks http links too! If I unblock, the links open inside the email window. In comparison, I checked my ISP's webmail, http links open without unblocking anything. They also always open in a new tab - as they should!

In a nutshell, it seems WebAccess 2014 SP2 confuses browers' unsecure content blockers, at least if emails are html formatted and countain unsecure hyperlinks. Something else may be broken too, but haven't been able to check.

Can anyone try 2014 R2 WebAccess to compare to SP2?

Re: Hyperlinks do not open

Hi,

I'm running GroupWise 2014 R2 on an OES backend. I've tested clicking on URLs in Firefox, Chrome and IE [11] and am unable to duplicate these issues. To be honest I don't recall having an issue in SP2 either.

Hope that this information is of assistance.

Cheers,
Laura Buckley

Re: Hyperlinks do not open

I've just upgraded a 2014.0.1 test server to 2014R2, webaccess seems to work fine, I can click http links in emails and they open straight away in a new browser tab (latest firefox). You have cleared all your browser caches in case there something mixed up from the older webaccess versions haven't you?

Mark.

I've seen this behavior on several browsers and computers; the IE10 copy I used to test hyperlinks had never visited a GW WebAccess site before, and yes I tried clearing cache(s) too. Didn't help.

Re: Hyperlinks do not open

Sorry was still on holiday, got back today.

Default browser does not matter.

When clicking on links it opens it inside the frame (well tries to, but it is left blank)

When right clicking and using "open in new tab " work correctly.

Re: Hyperlinks do not open

Hi,

Quick question... Is your GroupWise backend of WebAccess running on Apache/Tomcat or are you using IIS?

Please let us know - thanks 😉

Just looking at something that you posted above....

If that output was taken today then I think you may need to pay attention to your time/date/clock?

Re: Hyperlinks do not open

Hi,

Sorry, my bad. Was too late at night for me 😞

I still don't know what's causing your issues with hyperlinks. Try as I might I am unable to duplicate your issue. I do suggest that if you need more immediate attention that you open a Service Request with Novell Technical Support.

Cheers,
