Install requirements - 64bit SLES? 200GB! ? On an OES2 box?

I'm looking to install the DS Mobility Pack and received a marketing email from Novell some weeks back stating :
"It also must be run on the 64-bit SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11 platform,"

But the online doc extract below isn't so specific, though it looks implied.
They mention a 64bit processor but not 64 bit SLES 11...as shown here...

Novell Documentation
Hardware requirements for the Synchronizer server:

64-bit/x86 processor
2.2 GHz processor; multi-processor system recommended
4 GB RAM
45 MB of disk space for the Synchronizer software
200 GB of disk space recommended for data storage during system operation

Data storage disk space varies widely depending on the amount of data being synchronized, the number of users participating in synchronization, the logging level for Synchronizer log files, and other variables specific to your Synchronizer system implementation.

The largest consumers of disk space are the Synchronizer database (/var/lib/pgsql) and Synchronizer log files (/var/log/datasync). You might want to configure the Synchronizer server so that /var is a on separate partition to allow for convenient expansion.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11, plus the latest Support Pack

The server I was thinking of installing this on is 32-bit SLES 10 Sp1, OES2, Has anyone run it on 32 bit SLES or must I wipe and rebuild (unless I can do an inplace upgrade to 64-bit SLES11/OES2)?

Has anyone got this happily running on a OES2 box?

Also the 200GB of space looks a bit excessive. Can anyone advise what the storage requirements may be for smaller sites of say 5-10, 11-20 or 21-30 users. I know all cases are different but 200GB looks too much like a "one size fits all".

Nope OES runs on SLES 10 only...so you need to do a clean SLES 11 64 BIt or
SLES 11 SP1 64bit install.

Can you find smaller server drives??? Guess you plan on virtualizing
this....if you restrict the attachments so something reasonable am sure you
can get away with a 100GB drive for the number of users you are talking
about....

You can't run it on OES2. It has to be a straight SLES 11 box 64 bit.

The mobility pack is 64 bit SLES 11 only.

You cannot install this on a 32 bit OS. There was a lengthy blog discussion on this a few months ago.

Further, OES is not supported because the mobility pack must have sole control of ports 80/443 which are in use by default on on OES...not to mention it's based on SLES 10.

We've got about 20 users on Mobility right now, and between the
attachments stored in the file system and the Postgres database we're
only using about a gig. So if you plan for 30 users max, assume they
all want 1-2 weeks worth of mail (default is 3 days), allow for future
growth, plus add in the OS I'd say you shouldn't need more than 50GB,
if that.

Re: Install requirements - 64bit SLES? 200GB! ? On an OES2 b

Thanks for the feedback all!
The site I have in mind to install this has about 20 users, and a single server with a SLES 10/OES (not sure of the exact versions off hand).
In any case DS Mobility is a no go on that server unless I virtualise it.
Does Mobility run OK in a virtualised environment?

Re: Install requirements - 64bit SLES? 200GB! ? On an OES2 box?

Yes works fine. Make sure you mount /var to a 2nd disk: that way you can
grow it easily later. I had the same qualms as you about the 200GB so I
made it 50GB and am going to watch it. and increase if needs be. This is
VSphere. You also have the ability with VSphere to make the /var disk
thin-provisioned at 200GB so it sees the full amount, but will only actually
take the disk space it occupies up to this as a maximum.

Yes, running it under ESX 3.5 here. Another person here in the forum is
running it under Xen. I'd imagine it should work under Hyper-V as well.
