Install to w2K8 R2: eDir and novell client install on server

Hello,

I'm about to install GW 8 on a W2K8 R2 Server. Do I have to install eDir AND novell client at this new GW Server? Is it possible to install eDir and novell client on the same server without problems?

Thanks in advance for your very welcome anwers!

If you need eDirectory on the server you do indeed need eDirectory installed,
but as long as eDirectory is "in your network" not every server needs it. You
do have to have the client installed to install agents. eDirectory and the
client can both be on the same server.

Re: Install to w2K8 R2: eDir and novell client install on se

eDirectory is required on a Server if you intend to report against it. Even if eDirectroy is in your Network it would not know where the other Server is located without a pointer (reference) in eDirectory.

What exactly do you mean "report against it"? There is no requirement really
for eDirectory to be on ANY GW server, as long as ConsoleOne can log into
eDirectory somewhere and then open your domain database.
